Using Estate Sales to Reduce, Recycle, and Reuse

Using Estate Sales to Reduce, Recycle, and Reuse
When a relative dies, an unavoidable part of the grieving process is figuring out how to dispose of their belongings. An estate sale is not only a smart way to sort through items left behind in an inheritance, but is also the perfect opportunity to practice environmental awareness and incorporate the principles of reduce, reuse and recycle.
Lucky Rabbit Estate Sales co-owner, Paul J. Dunn, was recently featured in the New York Times after he consulted with an estate sale that attracted about 300 people. One reason for the company’s success with estate sales is its approach to utilize a social media marketing strategy that is second to none among its competitors. Dunn’s advice to families going through this difficult process is to consult with a professional before making a decision about how to dispose of the deceased’s possessions. Here’s how an estate sale can help you to help the environment.
Reduce
An estate sale is a great way to reduce clutter and find new homes for items that you either have no use for or don’t have space in your home to accommodate. You could earn cash from selling these items to a collectors or curious buyers who are looking for unique or rare pieces to add to their personal collection.
Recycle
Recycling is another way to breathe new life into old possessions. Many estate sale buyers are looking for collectibles and rare memorabilia. However, large items like furniture are also a great find that can easily be recycled by adding a new finish or converting it for a different purpose.
Reuse
With a little imagination, many items found at estate sales can be repurposed and reused. For example, paint and craft supplies can turn old jars into eye-catching decorative pieces. Many people are also looking for vintage clothing and estate sales can offer up some really great finds.
Whether for sentimental value or just to grow their collections, many people are attracted to estate sales for the sheer diversity of items available. Rather than throwing the possessions into the trash, why not consult with an estate sale professional to see the value that lies in them.

Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn Estate Sale
Paul J. Dunn

Tom and I are going on 6 days with our free setup of the Carroll Gardens estate sale. The amount of quality items that we’ve found in this neat hoarders townhome are absolutely amazing. The house is so full that we opted not to take any sales in April and we’re completely booked through May. We opened 100’s of boxes on the five floors where we found vintage toys, sterling, paintings bronzes, watch movements; watchmaker tools, supplies and so much more! If you want it we probably have it! We have multiples on almost everything! Vintage men’s and women’s clothing, fur hats, shoes, boots, scarves, gloves, and a ton (I mean a TON) of costume jewelry. Then there’s the paintings and the objects d art which are all plentiful as well! You can check out the complete description on our website.
I will be posting new photos very soon.
I know most of you have been checking our Instagram and Facebook pages to see the home as we set it up. We really do appreciate all the interest in what we do. Keep the questions coming; we’re always happy to answer them!
If you miss this sale you will regret it! So mark it on your calendars!

Fresh Meadows Estate Sale
March 16, 2014
By: Paul J Dunn
What a great day for a sale it was! We had a great opening crowd and over 400 people shoped with us. In fact the line stretched all the way back to the sidewalk for most of the day. I didn’t even have time to eat my lunch.
We successfully liquidated a great majority of the contents of this home in only six hours, thanks to our marketing prowess. Every home gets the same attention to detail from the marketing plan to the free setup and staging. Needless to say the client was extremely happy with our services.
We have a passion for this profession and truth is told its lot of hard work but we still make it seem fun for our employees and customers alike, never forgeting that we are in a chersihed loved ones home.
Feel free to stop by one of our upcoming sales and see why we are the fastest growing estate liquidation company in the New York City area.

Ditmas Park Estate Sale!
Another Great Testimonial! Thanks Jim and Jen!
Moving is hard enough but when we sold and had to relocate in a short time period, and leave most of our furniture and other items behind, we were flustered until we contacted Paul and Tom. Not only did they give us peace of mind, they were extremely professional and knowledgeable. We were delighted that they were able to offer full service disposition of our goods and get us money we never thought possible. Great guys and great service! Quotes

Nathan Wasserberger, Polish/American (1928 - 2012)
Widely collected and admired in Europe and the United States, Nathan Wasserberger was born in Chrzanow, Poland in 1928. As a young man, he witnessed first hand the horrors of World War II including the death of friends and family and is himself a survivor of Buchenwald.
http /www.luckyrabbitestatesales.com/upcomingsales.htm
Despite these early challenges, he went on to study at the Academy Julien in Paris and at the Art Students League in New York.
Early in his career, his paintings reflected the unbelievable injustices committed by the Nazis upon himself and millions of other innocents.
This brooding period was soon replaced by introspective expressions of the joy of life and a celebration of beauty and sensuality. Yet, concealed in every painting, there is a touch of sadness, a carryover of his experiences as a young man. Perhaps also a comment upon the unceasing suffering that still haunts humanity today.
Having 67 photos and color plates of his paintings in the permanent archives of American Art in the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC, assures this artist a place of honor in American art.
An excerpt from a book about Nathan Wasserberger quotes as follows:
"The treatment of the figure is concentrated, elegant and correct. At the same time there is an additional heritage in the lesson of drawing: The structures of the paintings are clarified, the concentration on the single figures producing the first signs of the crystalline structural clarity his paintings now display. Moreover, the technique is kept light and informal with none of the freezing into cold stiff line which academic figure painters tend to adopt. Finally, adding to this buoyancy is the lesson of tone: A silvery high-key tone begins to infuse the work. It is a luminous spirit lifting tone.
